by Lorraine M.L.M.

Genre: YA Fantasy/Romance

Release Date: July 6th 2017

Summary:

Politics or Love? Prophecy or Truth? Dreams or Reality?
What happens when the Sequences get entangled?
Back in her home realm of Tuscania, Alessia’s powers are stronger than ever. Not only that, she and Dante make it official and get engaged, but their bliss is short-lived when Alessia wakes from a nightmare screaming a prophecy.
Her words, “Protect the womb—safeguard the seed,” make no sense. Despite her surreal glow, she certainly isn’t pregnant. As the dreams increase and a strange voice breaches her personal shield, Alessia fears she’s losing her mind. What if her people declare her insane just like her family did back on Earth? Alessia keeps her growing turmoil a secret, even from Dante. She can’t distract him just as he’s stepped up to be the leader he was born to be.
Dante quickly discovers being a leader isn’t easy. Tuscania desperately needs the help of the dreamers of house Regai-Rallias, but they will only offer aid if Dante honours an agreement he made seven moon-years ago to marry Lavia.
Torn between politics and love, prophecy and truth, dreams and reality, Alessia and Dante’s Sequence of Hearts will be tested like never before as they struggle to save their kingdom and themselves.
SeQuence Entangled is the third installment in the enchanting Young Adult Fantasy/Romance Series; The Heart of the Ocean. This series will appeal to fans of fairytale romance, sword and sorcery, folktales, undersea worlds, parallel fantasy lands, new worlds, and female protagonists with unique powers.

A Sweeter Spot — by: Donna Simonetta

Today on Nitty Gritty Romance, we are hosting the always fabulous Donna Simonetta with a fun author interview! PLUS! She’s sharing her NEW release: A Sweeter Spot!

asweeterspot_w10867_750

So, tell us! What was your inspiration to become an author?

I’ve always had a vivid imagination, and have loved books all my life. I never thought that writing could be a career option for me, so I followed other career paths – Account Executive, school librarian – until a health scare stopped me in my tracks. After that, I decided to try writing during a summer vacation from my school job, and, at least psychologically, I’ve never looked back! I’ve continued to work at my library job, and write around it, but that’s become an increasingly difficult balancing act since Angels Fly was published last summer.

Any hobbies you enjoy? Any hobbies your characters share with you?

I’m pretty much a homebody…I like to spend time with friends and family, and I LOVE to read! Kelly, from Angels Fly, is a book lover and an author, and Magda, from A Sweeter Spot, is also a book lover and a librarian. Heather Braden, the heroine of the second book in the Rivers Bend series, shares my love of making up festive cocktail recipes.

Tell us about your latest book, A Sweeter Spot.

A Sweeter Spot is a contemporary romance set in the fictional small town of Rivers Bend, Virginia. It starts out as a little bit of a fish out of water story, as Magda is a northern girl, born and bred, and she’s now living in this tiny town on the Virginia-Maryland border, but she comes to love Rivers Bend and its people. She’s come to the town to get away from her wealthy, controlling grandmother, and doesn’t expect to fall in love with the town–and with the sexy former NFL player, who is the town’s favorite son. Her grandmother isn’t about to give her up without a fight though.

A review of A Sweeter Spot described it as the “Perfect mix of love, passion, humor”, and I was thrilled with that description, as that was exactly what I was going for with this story!

Tell us about your lead character, Jeff, and his trials as a single dad. He sounds dreamy!

Thank you! I have to confess that I think he’s pretty dreamy! Jeff’s daughter, Sam, was just a baby when her mother died, so he’s always been a single dad. He’s made Sam his top priority, and his family is a huge help with her, but before Magda he was always very careful to keep his love life separate from his family life. As Sam heads into her tween and teen years, I think his protective, inner alpha male will present lots of new challenges for him.

Inspiration for Jeff? Any male actor etc. who was your inspiration?

I never really have had an actor be an inspiration for a character. In Jeff’s case, as I wrote A Sweeter Spot, I realized his personality and character were a lot like my husband, who is also a native Virginian, although not a former professional football player. Maybe that’s why I find Jeff to be so dreamy, I wrote him to be just my type!

How about the female lead, Magda? Who was your inspiration for Magda?

Like Jeff and my husband, Magda and I share some traits as well. We’re both from Connecticut, both librarians, both Hungarian-Americans. However, I’m not a petite blonde, and my grandmother isn’t one of the wealthiest women in the world. Heck…neither of my grandmothers were the wealthiest women in their neighborhoods!

Will there be more books in the Rivers Bend series?

Yes! A Sweeter Spot is the first book in a trilogy, although as I’ve been working on the next two books, I see potential stories beyond the three I originally envisioned. I’ll have to see when I’ve finished these three books if I’m ready to leave Rivers Bend yet. Hopefully my readers will fall in love with this quirky little town as much as I have, and if they want to read more about it, I may keep going!

I’ve read you like a good “umbrella drink!”  What’s your favorite? Do you have a favorite place to enjoy your drink?

Every June, my husband and I celebrate the end of the school year, by going to St. Pete Beach, FL. It is the most beautiful white sand beach on the Gulf of Mexico, and it is one of my favorite places to relax with a good book, and an umbrella drink! And my favorite umbrella drink…hmm…that’s a tougher question. On the beach, I enjoy the classics–a Mai Tai, Dark & Stormy, or a Margarita.

Here’s a bit about A Sweeter Spot

asweeterspot_w10867_750

Magda knows a 28-year-old shouldn’t run away from home, but Rivers Bend is the ideal escape. Helping out her best friend will get her away from her uber-wealthy, controlling grandmother and duplicitous ex. She doesn’t expect the quirky little town to feel so much like home. Add in hotter-than-the-sun Jeff and his daughter, and leaving seems as unthinkable as it is inevitable.

Raising Sam alone, Jeff knew he wanted her to grow up in his supportive hometown. The arrival of a feisty new tenant sends Jeff’s world spinning. Magda fills a void in his life that he’d like to make permanent.

Will love triumph over the most powerful woman in the country, and can they figure out how to make this happy-for-now in Rivers Bend into their happy-ever-after?

Sounds great, right? Donna has given us an excerpt, too!

“Being cheated on is no fun. It happened to me once. Up here,” he tapped his forehead. “You know it’s not your fault. But here,” he tapped his chest over his heart. “You feel like it has to be your fault – like you could’ve done something to prevent it. But you couldn’t have. It’s all on him, Maggie. Not you.”

She picked a dandelion, whose flower had turned into a puffball, and blew on it, scattering the fluff to the wind. “Maybe. Maybe not. But thanks for the support.”

She pushed to her feet and took a couple of steps toward the river. Jeff rose and followed.

How could he be so angry at a man he didn’t even know? How could this Pierce jerk have slept around on a woman like Maggie? And the prick had even made her doubt herself in the process. It was written all over her anguished face.

He stood behind her and gently kneaded her shoulders. He turned her to face him and cupped her face in his big hands.

“This Pierce guy is the biggest fool on earth to go to someone else when he had you at home, Maggie.”

She blinked away tears, and he felt his heart constrict. Before he could think it through and decide it was a really bad idea, Jeff dipped his head and captured Magda’s lips in a gentle kiss.

Holiday Happiness with Donna Simonetta!

Today on Nitty Gritty Romance, we have the always fun and fabulous Donna Simonetta who is here to share some Holiday Happiness with us!

PLUS!!! She’s going to share some info about her novel, Angels Fly…AND we get a sneak peek at her NEW RELEASE, A Sweeter Spot! Yay!!! Thanks for stopping by, Donna!

From Donna:

True confession time. I’m a total sucker for the holiday season. The lights, the music, sappy holiday movies, romance novels with holiday themes, Christmas trees and decorations, cookies–the whole great big, sparkly Christmas ornament of a time.

There are pressures too. On our time, and on our wallets. To find the perfect gifts for our loved ones, and missing loved ones who have gone, but I try to focus on the pleasures, and one of the biggest pleasures of the season for me is getting to spend time with my family. My husband and I live in another state, and we only get to see my mom and sisters for a week in the summer and a week at Christmas. One way we alleviate the stress of the season is by avoiding the hellacious drive up I95 from Maryland to Connecticut by taking the train. We treat ourselves to the Acela Express, and it gets the vacation off to a festive start. Well…except for the year there was a blizzard and they crammed several cancelled trains worth of people onto the Vermonter. Trust me, it was nothing like when they took the Vermonter in the movie “White Christmas”.

52f09e29-4b58-46af-a6b5-601e74c3e731 But I digress. Back to happy. By the time we arrive at the station in Stamford, I’m so excited, I’m ready to jump out of the train and sprint down the platform. Leo and I don our personalized Santa hats. Yes. You read that correctly. My husband and I have personalized Santa hats–you can’t say I didn’t warn you that I was a nut for the holiday! The sister who picks us up at the station is as bonkers for the holidays as I am, and even her car is decked out for the season, with antlers on the windows, and a giant, red Rudolph nose on the grill.

The station is elevated over the tracks, so to get to the pick-up area, we have to go down a long escalator to the sidewalk where cars and taxis are lined up to meet travelers. I know Mary is waiting down there for us, and my heart always races with excitement. I can’t wait to get my first glimpse of her, but the roof of the station overhangs the escalator, and I can’t see unless I bend over to peek as we glide downward. So, of course, I bend and peek. And there she is! My sister is next to her cheery SUV–smiling, waving, and jumping up and down. My heart feels like it could burst, it’s so full of happiness. When we finally get to the bottom, we drag our suitcases and race toward Mary.  We squeal and hug, while Leo loads the luggage into the back of her rig. Once we all pile into the car to drive to my mom’s house, Mary always has Mele Kalikimaka queued up on the sound system, and we sing along as we ride down the highway to continue the celebration with my other sister and my mom. It is always one of the happiest moments of my year.

Wherever the road takes you this week, may you feel the same happiness I am, when I’m riding down that escalator tomorrow afternoon. Happy Holidays! And Mele Kalikimaka to all of you!

Moments of Magic in the Midst of Ordinary — With Iona Morrison

This week on Nitty Gritty Romance, we are featuring the wonderful Iona Morrison, who shares what Happiness means to her…

From Iona:

Moments of Magic in the midst of Ordinary

My youngest grandson wiggled, hopping from one chair to the next, asking one question after another. I smiled, answering what I could before he bounded off on another topic. A chuckle desperately wanted to emerge as I watched him until I was dizzy and had to look away. A surprising warm feeling of happiness engulfed me as he continued to chatter on turning somersaults across my living room floor while all the ornaments rattled on the tree.

Watching his non-stop motion, I couldn’t help but think of my son, his father, at the same age. He was another big bundle of energy who chattered from the time he opened his eyes in the morning until he closed them in exhaustion at the end of the day. Sunshine wrapped up in a small boy’s body with loads of energy to spare. If I told him once, I must have said it hundreds of times you’ll have a child just like you some day and the little person wiggling around my living room was proof of the power of those words. It was about self-preservation and finding a measure of sanity in the chaos of a moment that I had uttered, those powerful words known as the Mother’s Curse. May I insert right here that I doubt the words are a curse at all, but rather a powerful blessing. My mother never meant more to me than when I was raising my sons. She had many laughs at my expense as I told her stories of another one of their escapades, even as I am chuckling watching my wiggly grandson.

Times like this make me sigh with contentment and remind me what real happiness is. Life is fragile and broken, but beautiful with moments of magic in the midst of the ordinary. I am happiest when I love, and I’m with those who love me; when I give of myself and when I  watch my children with their children in the circle of life.

Iona is sharing a blurb and excerpt from her latest release:

Dance with a Devil !

dancewithadevil_w11110_300Coming In January and on pre-order now: Dance with a Devil, the fourth book in the Blue Cove Mystery Series.

Blurb:

Jessie is enjoying an evening run, grateful her life is finally back to normal. Starting the incline toward home, a sudden terror grips her. Someone is watching her. She picks up her pace, but he’s hot on her heels—and he means to kill her. She narrowly manages to elude her pursuer and reach the safety of her house. The first one she calls for help is the man she has grown to love, Matt Parker.

Matt already has his hands full dealing with a notorious hitman who’s in the area and a thug who followed a visitor to Blue Cove. Now Jessie is in danger, and Matt will do anything to keep her safe. He can’t lose her now.

When Matt becomes the target, it’s Jessie’s turn to help. She has a few surprises in store as a few ghostly friends come to her aid.

Excerpt:

A bullet splintered the bark of the tree where she had been standing. Jessie ran. She could hear someone crashing through the brush not far behind her. Another bullet missed her, hitting a little to the right, kicking up dirt and leaves on the ground. She ran faster. Up ahead, she could see a branch hanging low, and she did what she had done many times as a kid. She reached out, grabbed it as she ran by, and swung herself up into the tree to hide. She got a foot on a low branch and climbed up further, out of sight, her dress snagging on twigs. Her feet screamed in pain, her palms were slick with blood. Be silent! She crouched, one arm around the main trunk, trying to stifle her breathing. Her heart pumped hard, her ears strained for any sound. She took her gun from the holster, but her hand wouldn’t stop shaking. A branch snapped, and she jerked. Quiet! She covered her mouth with her hand. He was still coming, the hunter hunting his prey. He wasn’t trying to be quiet. Branches snapped, and she heard the thud of running footsteps. Jessie clung to the trunk, still as a piece of tree bark.

It sounds fabulous! Treat yourself to a holiday gift and pre-order today!

Holiday Happiness with K.K. Weil!

Today on Nitty Gritty Romance, we are visiting with the wonderful, K.K. Weil! She’s here to tell us about her happiness during the holidays…

AND about her new release…

BETTER TO GIVE!

bettertogive_w10932_300

From K.K.:

Happiness means different things to me depending on the time of year. Around the holidays, happiness is all about warmth, both emotional and physical. In December, happiness is snuggling in bed, reading Christmas picture books to my children. Even though my daughter is a tween, she loves our tradition and my kids trade off, taking turns to pick which book we’ll read each night. Happiness is holiday carols and egg nog. Happiness is driving around to check out the lights on people’s homes. Happiness is wrapping up in a blanket, reading a fantastic book. It’s watching my children have a ball playing in the snow (from my window, keeping warm, after spending an obligatory few minutes playing with them – for me, happiness is NOT playing in the snow. I’m always freezing.) It’s decorating Christmas cookies and gingerbread houses.

Happiness is Christmas Eve. It’s my children’s favorite night of the year. They love preparing for our company, setting tables and helping me cook appetizers. They wait all day for dozens of people to fill our home, and enjoy every second of the wonderful commotion. Watching them brings me back to my own childhood. Christmas Eve was my favorite night of the year, too.

Happiness in December is simple. It’s flavored coffee, a blazing fire and family. What else could I need?

Well, a new release makes me pretty happy, too. 🙂

Here’s a peek at my novella, Better to Give…

I needed some air. I just attacked a man for no good reason. Sure, one of his kids almost send Nora tumbling into a tree, but I could tell he was overwhelmed and I pounced anyway.

While his kids fought, the guy covered his face with his hands – the international sign for losing parental control. As he removed his hands, though, an awful thing happened. I got a good look at him and heat ran through every crevice of my body. No one should be as handsome as that guy was. Plus, I always had a thing for guys who were in over their heads, and he was definitely drowning with those kids.

I hadn’t reacted that way to a guy in a long time and I didn’t want to. My life was on track. I didn’t need some annoyingly smoky-hot, anti-super-dad screwing up my plans.

It was a problem because he clearly enjoyed the view, too. I knew what guys were thinking when they looked at me, and spoke to me, that way. When I mixed the way he was engrossed in me with my reaction to him, plans got derailed and things like Nora happened. Those smouldery guys don’t stick around once the Noras of the world arrive. So even though they’re still scorching hot, they no longer act like you are.

They disappear.

At least that was my experience. One I didn’t intend to repeat.

Sounds great, right…? Want more? Me, too!

bettertogive_w10932_300For most people, the holidays are a time of warmth, happiness and celebration. But to Jenna Samuels, they mean only one thing. Mounting debt. A single mother, Jenna struggles to make ends meet and to her, it’s a season of excess and distress.

James Garrison is in over his head, too. His ex-wife said he wasn’t equipped to take care of his twins, and now that he’s got joint custody, he fears she was right. They’re wild, spoiled, and always fighting. When they knock Jenna’s daughter into the “Gifting Tree,”—a part of their town’s charity collection—the parents are immediately attracted to each other. But James has had his fill of cold women and Jenna won’t make the mistake of falling for another man who disappears when life gets too heavy.

As their paths cross, James and Jenna must decide whether first impressions are accurate, or if sometimes, people are not what you assume at all.

Peggy Jaeger on Happiness…

Happiness for the Holidays!

Guess what!? Not only is the amazing Peggy Jaeger here to discuss Happiness — Today is also RELEASE day for:

A Kiss Under the Christmas Lights !

And she’s going to share! Romance lovers, get ready to swoon!

It’s fabulous!

akiss

From Peggy on “Happiness” :

There aren’t that many things in life that make me truly happy. Toes tapping, fingers snapping, light hearted, full-smiling happy. In fact, I could probably name them all on the fingers of one hand—and have some fingers left over! The two things that do bring me absolute, total, mind-blowing happiness, though, are Christmas and family. And when you combine the two – being with family on Christmas – well, I’m just giddy even thinking about it.

Because I adore Christmas and family so much, I wanted to write a Christmas love story about a family I truly admire and respect, The San Valentino family. I first introduced them in my 2016 Valentines day Candy Hearts book, 3 WISHES, and now I get to tell the story of the youngest child, Gia. A little later I’ll give you a taste of the story, but for now, I want to explain why being with family is uber-important to me and gives my such joy during the Holiday season.

As an only child raised in a divorced family, I wasn’t exactly brought up in the white picket fence version of childhood. The Christmas holidays were spent being shuffled between two parents who didn’t know how to cope with a divorce, much less treat a child who had no fault in the breakup. Their animosity toward each other was difficult for them to keep to themselves and they made the mistake of putting me in the middle – literally and figuratively – for most of their contentious interactions. I had no siblings, and therefore no buffer. No one to help me or shield me. It was no wonder then, as a child and then a teen, I simply dreaded the holidays.

All that angst died when I met and then married a man who came from a large, loving, supportive family. Christmas was, to them, a joy to celebrate, made all the more jubilant because they loved to spend it all together. No matter how far they lived from one another, or who was away at college or lived far from home, this bunch descended on their childhood family home for the duration of the holiday season. They actually liked being with one another, and Jesus, they had fun! This was what I’d always dreamed of and had never been able to have for my own. Can I just tell you how ecstatic I was to be included into their fold? And I still am, to this day. (Included AND joyful!!)

My daughter –also an only child—was brought up very differently than I was. Both her parents still love one another and she is the light of our world, even as an adult. One of the best things my husband and I ever did for her was give her the gift of her extended family. Even when we lived thousands of miles from my in-laws we always made it a point to spend the holidays with them and all my husband’s siblings. Raised in a time before Skype and Face time,  we would make sure my daughter spoke to her grandparents, aunts and uncles every week on the phone even when she was a toddler, so she would learn to recognize their voices. I’m an avid picture-taker, so we had dozens of photos of the family in our house and when my daughter was old enough to make the connection, she would point to the pictures and state the names of the people in them.

She knew that even though we didn’t live right next door to her cousins and their parents, these people were-quite literally—always there for her. And today, even as adult, she has an amazing, close relationship with them all.

So when I decided to write a Christmas romance, I knew without a doubt it had to take place within the confines of a large, loud, and loving family. Because without family to guide you, support you, and lift you up, there is nothing else. Especially during the holiday season. Maybe even more so because of it! The San Valentino clan is the family I wished I could have grown up in, the kind of family I wanted to call my own. Since I didn’t have the luxury of that type of family, I invented them.

And I love them sosososo much!

So, spending time with a family you adore during the most joyful days of the year is what brings me total, complete, and everlasting happiness.

A BLURB! :

Because I love the San Valentino family so much, I want to share their love. Here’s a little sumthin’ sumthin’ from A KISS UNDER THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, featuring the “baby” of the family, Gia.

akiss

With Christmas just a few weeks away, Gia San Valentino, the baby in her large, loud, and loving Italian family, yearns for a life and home of her own with a husband and bambini she can love and spoil. The single scene doesn’t interest her, and the men her well-meaning family introduce her to aren’t exactly the happily-ever-after kind.

Tim Santini believes he’s finally found the woman for him, but Gia will take some convincing she’s that girl. A misunderstanding has her thinking he’s something he’s not.

Can a kiss stolen under the Christmas lights persuade her to spend the rest of her life with him?

And we have an EXCERPT, TOO!!!!:

After an hour of helping people move supplies from cars, I passed by mama who was carrying a humongous plastic swaddled baby Jesus statue for the crèche when she called out, “The new guy is here.”

“Where?” I put down the ladder I’d been carting and looked in the general direction of where she’d pointed her chin since her arms were full of the Lord.

I found him in an instant. It wasn’t difficult because he was the only guy in the parking lot I didn’t recognize. Plus, he was dressed head to toe in basic clergy black. Black long sleeved shirt under a black vest over black trousers and standard issue shiny black boring priest shoes.

His back was to me and he was carrying a table, but after he put it down and turned around I got a good look at the front of him.

And Holy Mary, Mother of God, what a front he had.

Close cropped military style hair the color of wind blown wheat topped a head which stood – truly – head and shoulders above everyone else around. The guy had to be six-three at least. Sharp, etched cheekbones God cut with a knife, sat under deep and dark oval shaped eyes. His face was a composite of planes and angles, the carved cheeks meeting up with a chiseled-from-stone chin. Hardened concrete looked softer than this guy’s jawline. His nose was perfectly fixed in the center of his face, the slight aquiline bend at the tip bringing to mind Michelangelo’s David, the cupid’s bow under it well-defined and pronounced. His lean shaven cheeks fell into a mouth that was full and thick and – God help me – looked utterly kissable.

I could tell even with the chunky vest covering his torso, he was closer to thin than stocky, but from the way his biceps pulled against his sleeves, he had some muscle to him.

And some pair of legs. They went on forever, from heaven to earth in a full, hard line.

I don’t know how long I stood there just gawking with my mouth open like an empty cannoli shell waiting to be filled, but I’m being truthful when I say I couldn’t move. My feet were frozen to the ground, my knees had locked, and my hips weren’t taking me anywhere soon.

This was one beautiful man.

The old masters would have used him as a springboard for their work, and I could actually picture him in a Botticelli fresco, garbed in Roman robes, lounging while naked, buxom-breasted chubby women fed him grapes and sweetmeats.

In the time it took for a hummingbird to flap its wings once, I pictured myself as one of those women.

Okay, you’ve got to get this for your holiday gift to…yourself! I’m ordering mine right now! How to get your copy…?
