Welcome to Steamy Saturdays — Countdown to Christmas!
What a way to kick off our Countdown to Christmas!
Today I am hosting Debra Druzy, author of the mega-hot, fabulous any-time-of-year, Sleeping with Santa! (I loved this book and gave it 5-stars!)
Thank you for having me on your Steamy Saturday blog, Cathrine. I’m so excited to kick-off Christmas with you and your fabulous followers.
Who’s ready for Christmas!?
I just took down the Halloween decorations, started tidying up for Thanksgiving, and rearranging the furniture to fit the Christmas tree. I’m also gearing up for a couple of holiday houseguests who’ll be hitching a sleigh ride with Santa when the man in red makes his annual debut at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Some families get that elf who sits on a shelf.
But since my sassy little ladies are on Santa’s Limbo List (you know, that other list between the Nice and Naughty Lists), they get Tag-Team Elves to keep tabs and report any misbehavior directly to The Santa Administration because the Standard-Single Elf doesn’t have enough Eye Power.
Our Tag-Team Elves are twins named Oscar and Rufus. They don’t wreak havoc, or promote mischief, or give my children any wild ideas they haven’t already thought of on their own—like writing on mirrors with lipstick, squirting toothpaste all over the bathroom sink, food fighting, or pulling clothes out of drawers.
The last thing I need around here is an impish Elf, tearing up the place, when I have two daughters doing a fine job of that already.
These sweet fellows play hide’n’seek and leave notes of wisdom and encouragement. Their mission is to promote the positive. And if their mission is a failure, and the girls aren’t in tip-top form by Christmas, this Tag-Team will get demoted to Coal Patrol, and we don’t want to see that happen.
Luckily for my girls, there’s just enough time to turn their pre-teen ‘tudes around before Santa makes his final call.
Speaking of Santa, I realize it’s still kind of early for some folks to think about Christmas, considering we haven’t gotten to Thanksgiving yet. But I love Christmastime anytime. So much so, my first published novel is a contemporary holiday romance called SLEEPING WITH SANTA.
SLEEPING WITH SANTA sprung from the idea that we all have an inner-Santa—referring to the desire to make someone else happy. To take away someone’s pain. To give from the heart.
In the story, Lily has more emotional baggage than she can carry when she meets Nick, the new guy in Scenic View. The more Nick learns about Lily’s painful past, the more determined he is to give her the happily-ever-after she deserves.

When Nick reluctantly accepts the temporary transfer to the Scenic View Fire Department he doesn’t plan on playing Santa Claus for the kiddie Christmas party. Sticking around town for the special assignment will give him a chance to get to know lonely, local sweetheart Lily and find out why she wants nothing to do with him.
Lily is a lifelong fixture in Scenic View, sick of living hand-to-mouth in a place where everyone’s nose is in her personal business. Just when she’s ready to move out of town, she meets the gorgeous newcomer, and it’s lust at first sight. The only thing is she doesn’t date firemen, which is too bad, because charming Nick seems like a real keeper.
With a little Christmas magic and help from the Santa suit, will Nick find a way into Lily’s heart and change her mind?
Chief Maresca pulled up the window shade. “See the red mailbox across the street?”
Next to the standard blue USPS box stood a twin painted red with white lettering—NORTH POLE. Nick had spotted it yesterday on his way to the liquor store where he met that cute little redhead—Lily.
“If you’ll collect the letters,” Maresca said, “I’ll sort them out. I like to read them first before giving them to the Ladies Auxiliary. They give them back to the parents. Or if it’s too big of a request—like medical issues or families in crisis—the Secret Santa Society gets involved. We’ve installed wheelchair ramps for the elderly. Bought computers for kids. Paid the electric bill for out-of-work residents. That kind of stuff.”
Nick nodded. “Sounds like a good system. Count me in. Besides money, I’m pretty handy, I can donate my time.”
“Speaking of your time…” Maresca wavered, and Nick sensed the anvil coming. “I was hoping—since you’re new around here, and none of the kids know your face—you might be interested in playing Santa for them at the Christmas party.”
Wham! There it was. If he agreed to play Santa, he’d probably get suckered in being the Easter Bunny, too. Nick fumbled for a viable reason to say no.
“I’d do it myself,” Maresca explained, “but I had a knee replacement last year, and I’m still working out the kinks. I can’t handle all those kids.”
Yeah, good excuse. Feeling the guilt mounting, Nick gave a silent sigh, and said, “Yes,” without flinching.
Debra Druzy is a married, stay-at-home mom, writing romance in between running errands and doing household chores. SLEEPING WITH SANTA is her first published book, but there are plenty of unfinished stories in the closet and under the bed, which is probably bad feng shui but a good lesson in persistence pays off. Her novella, DARE ME, is coming Valentine’s 2016, from The Wild Rose Press.
